Values

Mountain View Credit Union is a lot more than deposit and loans. Our guiding principles illustrate why we are in business:

Local Ownership

Mountain View Credit Union's size allows us to be adaptive and responsive to trends in our local marketplace, and also able to provide innovative products and services. Local decision-making means you can get reliable financial advice from people who understand your personal, farm or small business needs.

And, when you bank with us, you are also an owner and shareholder. The direction of our credit union is decided by the Board of Directors, which is elected by our members.

Most importantly, we believe in sharing our profits with the loyal people and businesses who use our banking services and have contributed to our share equity. We paid over $1.5 million to these members in Profit Sharing in 2010, bringing our total to over $14.7 million paid in Profit Sharing since 1988. Learn even more about Profit Sharing

The amount to be paid in Profit Sharing is determined annually by the Board of Directors based on our equity position and the profitability of our previous fiscal year. It is paid in November each year.

Your share of the profits is based on the type of products you use, the amount of business you have with us, and the number of shares you own.

Community Focus

We live and work in our communities and understand that strengthening our local areas benefits us all. We demonstrate this commitment in tangible ways by proudly contributing time and money to local organizations, events and projects. In our 2009-2010 year, Mountain View Credit Union contributed 3.5% of our pre-tax income in scholarships, donations and sponsorships. The majority of this amount is distributed directly by our branches, because we know local decision-making makes a difference.

Our employees also show how our focus on community is about more than money. They volunteer a significant amount of their time to various local events and organizations they care about. Last year, Mountain View staff contributed over 4,400 hours in volunteer time to everything from 4H to minor hockey.

Personal and Professional Service

We strive to build lifelong relationships with our members. We believe this is achieved by understanding that each member is unique, and that by providing reliable financial advice in a friendly atmosphere, we are creating partnerships to last. When you bank with us, you are known by name, not by number.

Knowing our members and communities helps us to create quality products and services at competitive prices that meet the needs of our membership. In addition to our eleven branch locations in Central Alberta, we also provide specialized service for our agriculture and business members through our Business Banking Centre.

Online banking, telephone banking and a network of credit union ATMs are also available. And while we will continue to improve our offerings with technology, our personal service and branch locations will always be a priority.

Service - it's about simple solutions that work for our members, our staff and the credit union.
